About Us

858 Autumn Tree

Elspeth Thomson's Greeting Card business has grown gradually since 2003, and now has many loyal customers.

The cards are designed and then entirely handmade in Lancashire. We have a small team of very dedicated and meticulous helpers.  Each card features exquisite multilayered embroideries in up to the minute designs. The embroideries are hand made using a variety of textile media, including machine embroidery, appliqué, fabric painting. Hand dyed fabrics are incorporated with iridescent and transparent organza’s to produce a range of exquisite, individual greeting card designs. The cards are all printed on site, giving the flexibility that we like to offer.

As a small UK based business we are able to offer customers a truly personalised service, with smaller orders of special requests a speciality. Also we are able to offer speedy and reliable delivery times.

All cards are mounted on board manufactured in The Lake District from 100% elemental chlorine free pulp from FSC Credit Certified Timber.

Each greeting card is presented with a co-ordinating envelope in a clear cellophane bag.

Elspeth has always felt at home with the stitched textile, from the time she made dolls clothes on her mother's 'wind the handle' Singer sewing machine, through enjoying art and needlework at school, through studying textile design at university, to now. The passion is still the same, to create the most beautiful, tactile, luxurious stitched images. Elspeth studied textile design at Brighton Polytechnic (now Brighton University), specializing in woven textile design. In her final year at college (1984), she won a number of awards including the prestigious Sir Frank Warner Memorial Medal given by the Royal Society of Arts for the 'Best Textile Design'. After initially pursuing a career in retail buying with Heals and Simpson’s of Piccadilly, Elspeth returned to weaving and design on a consultancy basis. Then after a change of location from Berkshire to Lancashire in 1994, starting a family and renovating her family farmhouse, Elspeth returned to her first passion of embroidery. What was a hobby, making cards for family and friends has become a small business.
