This embroidery was inspired by a summer evening walk through the countryside near Saint-Yriex-la-Perche, south of Limoges, during an unforgettable heatwave. The corn stood tall and ripe beneath an intense blue sky, glowing in the warmth of the late afternoon sun.

The long shadows cast by the mature trees stretched across the field, creating gentle bands of light and shade that seemed to ripple through the landscape. It was this beautiful contrast—the golden warmth of the ripening corn against the cool, striped shadows—that I wanted to capture in thread.

As I stitched this piece, I found myself reliving the peaceful stillness of that evening: the warmth of the air, the rich colours of the French countryside, and the simple pleasure of walking through a landscape bathed in golden light. My hope is that this embroidery conveys not only the scene itself but also the memory of a perfect summer evening.
