Inspired by the quiet landscapes of rural France, this embroidered piece explores the changing textures of late summer. Layers of free-motion stitching build the dense woodland beyond the field, while the foreground grasses and dried seed heads are stitched individually with hand-worked French knots.

Although based on a real landscape, the embroidery is less concerned with recording a particular place than with capturing the feeling of standing quietly within it. Light, shadow and texture become as important as the landscape itself, inviting the viewer to slow down and notice the small details that are often overlooked.
