Textile embroidery inspired by the James Webb Space Telescope image of Galaxy NGC3627.

When the James Webb Telescope released its first images, I was completely captivated. I downloaded dozens of them and found myself returning to them again and again. They were immense beyond comprehension, yet at the same time astonishingly beautiful.

I knew I had to try to recreate that feeling in stitch.

This embroidery isn't intended to be an exact copy of a galaxy. Instead, it is my response to the colours, the movement and the sheer sense of awe I felt as I looked into the depths of the universe. Threads and fibres seemed the perfect medium to suggest glowing clouds of dust, brilliant stars and the delicate complexity of something unimaginably vast.

I've always been drawn to landscapes that remind me how small I am within nature. This embroidery simply takes that idea one step further. Standing on a beach, walking across a windswept marsh or looking into a distant galaxy all leave me with the same feeling—a sense of wonder, perspective and quiet humility.

Whenever life feels overwhelming, I think about the immensity of the universe. Somehow, against that infinite backdrop, even the biggest worries seem a little smaller.
