This embroidery grew from memories of a wonderful holiday exploring the marshes, scrubland and coastal dunes of Jutland. Although inspired by the landscape, my aim was not to recreate a particular view but to capture its colours, textures and atmosphere.

Begun in Denmark and completed later at home, the composition evolved as I worked, gradually becoming less about the geography of the place and more about the impression it had left with me. I rearranged elements of the design until the colours conveyed the feeling I remembered, while tiny sequins were added to suggest the sparkle of dew across the marshes.

For me, this piece is a memory of Jutland rather than a map of it—a celebration of the quiet beauty and distinctive light of a landscape that stayed with me long after I returned home.
